Inspiring Others to Sketch

Inspiring Others to Sketch

One of the things I love about posting my sketches on social media, and teaching art classes is inspiring other people to sketch. I love it when students come into the next class and tell me that they've sat down and sketched a view.

Or someone has seen my posts on Instagram and it's spurred them into recording the views around them. Like a friend at work who was inspired to sketch this view of Druridge Bay last year. She's since been on her honeymoon and posted some sketches of the hotel gardens so I'm so happy that she's still inspired.

I was pleasantly surprised when a student doing the Tree Seasons course said
she'd had a trip to Bamburgh and had sat in front of the castle to do a sketch. I think she didn't have time to finish it but took a photo and finished it at home. I also remember her saying that she used artistic licence for the foreground. It looks great!
I absolutely adore this mini sketching kit that my friend has. She's been coming to quite a few of my classes and has really got the painting bug! A small sketchbook can be good in that you can easily carry it and it doesn't take long to fill the page.
Thank you to everyone who has shared their sketches with me for this blog post. I love seeing your sketches knowing that you've enjoyed your lovely days out.
I've created a facebook page Art Club which will hopefully keep you all inspired to sketch and paint. If you've been inspired by this, or by attending a class then why don't you join us?
